Vegard Nilsen Conductor

Norwegian conductor working across opera and symphonic repertoire. A humanist approach to musical leadership – presence, listening, direction without domination.
Vegard Nilsen is a Norwegian conductor whose work spans opera and symphonic repertoire across Europe. Rooted in classical tradition and shaped by a humanist, dialogical approach to musical leadership, he has led productions including Puccini's Turandot at the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago, Verdi's La Traviata, Bizet's Carmen, and Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, alongside symphonic programs from the Classical era through the twentieth century. He is founder and artistic director of OPUS, an ensemble platform based in Oslo, working internationally with musicians and partners from across Europe.

Music is one of humanity's deepest practices of being together. It is that possibility that shapes my work.
